Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is designed to stop the so-called email spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one address, but to look as being sent from another, frequently with the idea to scam the recipient for some reason. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain, a specific record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers globally receive it. The record includes all the email servers that are allowed to send valid messages from an email address part of the domain. When an email is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to verifies the SPF record and when its sending server is permitted, the message is sent to the targeted receiver. In case, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the given domain, the message won't be sent and it'll be removed. In case you use this service, it will stop third parties from sending spam e-mails that appear to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for each domain hosted in a hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a couple of clicks. The feature is accessible in the Emails section of our leading-edge Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to activate it is to pick one of your domains from the drop-down list and enter the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers that will be certified to send email messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you can even restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only if it includes our MX records, i.e. if our servers handle the e-mail addresses for it, not a third-party provider. This feature will give you the highest level of security, but it is not applicable if only your site is on our servers while your email addresses for the domain are managed in a different place. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to secure your email addresses by activating the SPF security service for every domain name in the account with only a couple of clicks. You can do this through the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel that comes with the semi-dedicated accounts and even in case you have no previous experience with these things, you will not have any kind of troubles to activate the protection. The only things that you'll need to do will be to find a domain name from a drop-down menu and then type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. The moment the updated record propagates, messages from your email addresses will be sent globally only if they were sent from that particular server. In case your email addresses are managed by us and not by some third-party supplier, you will also be able to benefit from an option for email messages to be mailed only if the domain name features our MX records and the aforementioned is the safest option.
